I spent this week drawing, I finished all the drawings and now Im going to paint. I am in the studio now creating a full size book dummy with the images included, it turned out to be 60 pages long. I changed the leading of the text as well. as far as editing the text I plan to get to that when I'm done painting. Full speed ahead

This was a very busy and productive week for me in terms of IP. I spent the first part working on book design, I feel like im very close to having a solid one, I also began the drawing process FINALLY!!!!! Ive spent so much time doing other stuff with text and book layouts and building sets, I finally get to do the fun part! The painting part scares me tho :/ it might take a while. Im going to try my hardest to have almost all of the drawings done this weekend, If i could do that it would really help me get finished in a timely manner. Only got 2 weeks :/ shit lol. As far as making the books I looked into getting them printed off at kinkoes (hope that how u spell it) Unfortunately I cant get my book perfect bound at kinkoes since my book is a 9 by 7 horizontal. the lady said that like the biggest they could print horizontally is like 20 inches, and since mine is 9 across, its 18 across the whole thing which does not leave enough space to get the book perfect bound because the cover must stretch across the book and have a gutter and things like that. I could get it spiral bound but im not sure how i feel about that, worse comes to worse and I dont have any other options ill just get the spiral bind. Im gonna go to kolosas and see what they can do for me. Why dont you change the size of the book you ask? well, i chose 9 by 7 because it was one of the few good horizontal sizes offered by lu lu (where I would like to put the book after IP) AND if I change that darn book size again I will have to go through the trouble of adjust everything else, AGAIN, 4 THE BILLIONTH TIME, AAARRRRRR and as you could see that would drive me crazy! plus I started drawing, and my drawings are sized to fit 9 by 7, changing the books size would just be a hassle and a headache that I dont want to have, and I dont have time for all that. So, I shall explore some other options, but if nothing pans out, spiral bound it is.

This past two weeks I basically spent my time on book layou and 3D modeling. I changed the design for my book again, I like the horizontal setup, but it seemed a bit long across (it was originally 8.5 by 11) I changed the doc size to about a 9 by 7. I printed off an actual size dummy book, not the whole thing, just about 8 pages to see how it looked. I liked how it turned out, I started asking around about the layout and have begun to get a small bit of feedback from some of my peers. Ive been told that its still a bot long across (i mean that the text column is too long for people to comfortably read) so im changing that, and also the page seems a little cramped, so im gonna give it a little more space around the edges. I have also spent a great deal of time modeling the environments in 3D, I have most of them done and will begin Illustrating this weekend. I have spent allot more time thinking about exactly what I'm going to Illustrate and how as well.

This week was pretty productive. I went to my sweetland meeting. It was ok, we had good conversation, i guess ill continue to go after break. I spent allot of time this week drawing my cover design/postcard image. I kinna like it, its not finished tho, maybe ill feel different about it when its completed. I also spent time with my book design. the designing of the book layout is taking allot more time and effort that i had originally anticipated, but its ok, im enjoying the process. over break im just going to continue messing around with layouts and doing illustrations.

ok, so this week i spent the time modeling the 3D for my illustrations. I also got some good advice and/or possible directions to go in as pertaining to my book layout. i made my appointment with sweetland and its this coming monday at 10:30. I e-mailed the person im supposed to meet with because the sweetland policy states that each student can only meet for thirty minutes, and they are to bring the written work with them in paper form for the counselor to read. I told the guy my writing was long, about 55 pages, so since we only have 30 mins, its kind of impossible for you to sit there, read it all, then give me feedback. is there a way i could send it to you and have you read before hand so that we can discuss. He said no, sorry, but we dont read the work before hand, you can bring it in and we can have some broader conversations on the work, we can look at parts of the work and discuss. I said ok, and ask if there was someone else, or some other way to have someone read my work and really give me feedback, he said again, no, we dont read the work before hand. I thanked him, and will be seeing him on monday. I guess hell read tidbits and we will have discussion on whatever parts he does. Ill see how it goes. FUCK!!!! DAMN SWEETLAND BULLSHIT!!!! now, i realize that i might be speaking a bit soon seeing as how i have yet to go to the meeting, but i have a feeling that this meeting is going to annoy the piss out of me. I only have thirty minutes minus the time its gonna take him to read what hes gonna read, then im gonna have to verbally explain the story, and hes gonna ask questions, questions that would be answered already have he would have read. now, im sure from what he reads he can give me grammar and sentence structure help, which is always wanted. but c'mon now, i need comments on story, the structure of the story, how to better develop the characters and their relationships, how to better drive the feelings across that im trying to communicate, i need deep criticism on the story itslef, as well as grammar shit. any asshole can give me grammar and sentence structure help. sigh. well anything he says to me i can definitely use, and i appreciate him taking the time out to help me. jesus, can someone please point me in the direction of an actual writer that is willing to read and seriously critique my work, not this surface level bullshit. with all the money i pay to go to this damn school its a shame that its so hard to find. but like i said, i have not been to the meeting yet, who knows, it can be exactly what i need.

This week was a very hectic week, I missed class on tuesday due to illness, and i spent thursdays class working on my project. I have begun to model the 3D portions of the project. I have settled on a book layout that I feel is fine, although some classmates believe that I could go farther with my book layout decisions, and in some ways i agree, I strongly feel that I dont have anymore time to waste debating on book layout. I need to go full speed ahead with the 3D and the drawings because my time is running out. I have to finish the drawings, put the book together and send it off to be published, and the fact that I dont know how long it will take for lulu to publish my books and send them back is worrying me so I am hitting the ground running. I met with megan yesterday, and although our conversations were most productive she actually disappointed me a bit. I remember sitting in my meeting with megan and hanna and hanna told me that megan would be wiling to read my (as well as others) work and come back at a later date to discuss. My immediate response was that my project was kind of long, about 50 pages give or take, and her response was.... ok thats not that much. And hanna chimed in stating that oh yea, 50 pages is nothing to her, shes a writer, and a writing teacher, to us thats a big deal, but to her its nothing. Then I get in the meeting to find out that Megan didn't read the whole thing, only parts one and two and im just like....damn. I thought i had found someone worthy. I mean dont get me wrong, megan was very useful and we had great conversation, i thoroughly enjoyed our meeting, she really helped me allot!!! but i still couldn't help but be annoyed, because when things like this happen, i get asked questions, and have to spend 10 mins explaining something that would have been made clear had you finished reading. Like i said me and megans meeting went very well, and i appreciate her taking the time out so dont take these words the wrong way, im just expressing what bothered me a bit. Now, as i stated I'm currently modeling the 3D for my project, we got group critiques tues and honestly i dunno how much im going to have to show, and here is why... This thing that we call life, IS CURRENTLY WHOOPING MY ASS!!! My ass is burning in the flames and my life is falling apart! it seems like if it aint one thing its another, and a whole mass of messed up shit has recently been happening to me all at the same time! What you ask? Im not really at liberty to share, especially on an internet blog, but all im asking all of you is to understand. Yes its true ive been slipping, but i have good reason and im and currently in the process of pulling things back together. So please, im asking you to understand, and cut ya mans sum slack!! hard times my friends, hard times. Im in the process of gettin my shit together as we speak so just please cut me sum slack and i promise you will not regret it.

This week I finished the text on Sanguine Moon. After receiving feedback on my last draft there were parts I wanted to change, and parts I wanted to ad in. Now that im finished with the changes I think the story is better already. I'm scheduled to meet with Megan on friday, so im excited to see how that goes. Now to set my appointment with sweetland. Now that I'm done with he text, I'm going to begin modeling my 3D backgrounds.

This week I found to be extremely productive. I finally ended up with a finalized page and Illustration layout, as well as a font size and leading that i enjoy. I printed out a smaller thumbnail sized version of the book and put it together so that i could make sure that everything flowed correctly with the layout that i had put together. It all turned out pretty good. Since I didn't have the pages laid out correctly in indesign, once i printed the spreads, i had to cut them all into single pages, put them in the correct order, and tape them all together using blue painters tape... it was a long and taxing job, and the tips of my thumb and index fingers are still raw because of that damn tape lol. On a down note, we have another group critique on tues, but ive decided to spend my weekend, fixing up and finalizing my text, because there are some things that I want to add before i send it off to sweetland, and i believe that needs to be done soon because the layout i just completed will shift slightly once i edit the text. So on tues if i only have my book layout its going to look like i have not made any progress, but that will definitely not be true!!!!! I spent classtime and my time outside of class working on the text.

AAAAHHHHHH, LATE POST, I FORGOT TO WRITE YESTERDAY!!!! XP It's taking me a while to get back into the swing of weekly blog writing. This week was ... interesting. I put my text into In design, and created spaces for my images. Afterwards i started drawing. Much to my dismay, I completely misunderstood the reasons Hanna had me work in indesign in the first place. soon after I got the illustrations roughly drawn, i found fitting them into the text to be quite a challenge, basically the text was not laid out as well as it should have been, so back to the drawing board. I found a font size, lead size and page orientation that i feel comfortable with, and properly flowed the text into in design, not im re deciding where i want to illustrate, and how the illustrations will be oriented. Im trying to be more lose with the placement of the drawings this time, last time i had no full page or two page spreads. the process is coming along, but its difficult. I spent the class times in my studio, and spent thursday night and friday in my studio working as well.

This week was pretty productive, I finally got a preliminary layout for my book done, now i just need to focus on the images. The layout is subject to change, but it helped me to narrow down exactly which parts of the story I wanted to Illustrate. For class on tuesday Im going to come in with 2 moch up spreads with Illustrations included, just to test out and see which direction im going to go in, as well as see if my illustration ideas are working well. This ended up being my first post since after christmas because I forgot to post last week, it took a minute for me to back into the swing of the weekly blog posts. I spent class time working in my studio both tuesday and thursday, as far as studio time, i cant spend it in my studio anymore unfortunately because i have a class scheduled during that time slot, which feels a but strange because last semester I was one of the few people who was in my studio during the scheduled time every week. It works out tho because I make up my lost studio hours on the weekends, Im always in my studio fri-sun, ususally from around 1-9 pm. work work work.
